Pretending originality

Edward S. Curtis, took this picture in 1910 of Bear Bull, also called Sotai-na, Rain Chief, a member of the Blackfoot Nation.
It is a great photo, as you can see. Very much thanks to Bear Bull himself, I suppose, looking good.

The photo is the real work of art on this page.
See below various attempts to make art. It is almost impossible because the art was already made by Mr. Curtis.

These below are copies, more or less. The artists are pretending to have produced a piece of art; some of them even put their signature to it.
The signature should read "Curtis + Bear Bull" and nothing else, because Curtis and Bear Bull are the ones who made the art.

It is even worse when a projector is used, which is the case in a few of these; or when the photo is changed with a photoshop or similar program. Then it isn't even a copy work. It's just so dull.

Copying should be done in the purpose of study, not in attempts to make art. Of course, it would be perfectly ok if Mr. Curtis himself decided to make a painting with the help of his great old photo.
