Smoking tobacco, how to stop
I started smoking and using tobacco when
I was 17. 17 years later, on my second attempt, I managed to stop.
It was not easy to quit. I didn't think it would be easy. I was actually
surprised to find out how hard it was. I looked at the tobacco and I was shocked on
how clever that trap was!
Of course it is worth the effort to stop. I am proud that I did manage and I thought maybe I
could encourage you to stop as well. I quit without any "help" from nicotine
substitutes. Those chewing gums and pills are not really going to help you, are
they? I thought they are the same drug in a new form.
I didn't have medical reasons to stop. I was physically ok. I just wanted to.
Badly.
This is how you do it:
- Start doing regular exercise six days a week for two weeks.
- No alcohol during this entire program.
- After the two weeks of regular exercise you stop smoking. Get rid of all
tobacco. This includes smokers. Have them smoke someplace else.
- From the very first moment without tobacco you should start drinking lots
of water. I drank at least 4-5 litres per day. Use your own judgement.
- Keep up the exercise. And increase it. Take an extra lap when the demand
for tobacco is extra tough on you.
- On the second day without tobacco you stuff your wallet full with money
and go shopping. You are going to buy food. And you buy anything you feel
would be tasty. Fruits and vegetables are of course recommended, but if you
want ice cream, candy, cakes, sausage etc, then you buy that. You continue to go
shopping every day. You will feel satisfied after a
while. This may happen on the very first day of shopping. Then you don't
need to shop anymore.
- After ten days without tobacco you can acknowledge yourself with a
fantastic dinner on a fine restaurant. No wine. Just great food and mineral
water.
- Consider the program finished when you are certain you won't use tobacco
under ANY circumstance.
- Don't relax when you think you have made it. Be alert. It may take years
before you are through for real. It took me 7-8 years before I could
honestly say that I was never tempted to use tobacco.
- Don't hang around when people smoke. You don't want to inhale that stuff.

I wish you success. Tobacco is not a pretty thing. Let us make this a
prettier world.
