RAPHAEL'S Sistine Madonna
This painting is to be seen in Dresden, Germany. It sure is one reason to go
to Dresden.
It is also interesting because somebody decided to pick
out
the angels and make a poster out of them. Now the angels are famous while the painting,
Raphael's masterpiece, is less known.
RENOIR'S Seated bather
I learned much from studying his techniques, especially on how he used shade
colours. I also credit him for the idea of not using the colour black in painting.
MONET'S Japanese bridge
Monet is almost too good, I think. When I first studied his work
I found it unreachable.
MILLET'S Walk to work
I would love to be able to sit next
to Millet as he did this one. The characters in the painting become
intense. It is such a well done work.
PICASSO'S La vie
This painting is from 1902 and apparently he was
scorned for painting dull paintings while other, successful painters were using
bright colours. I don't know.
CEZANNE'S The bay from L'Estaque
Finally had to confess that I was
utterly impressed by his work.
KLIMT'S The Kiss
Wonderful! It's oil and gold on canvas and it is actually
180x180 centimeters. I take my hat off for Klimt, the Austrian.
